Silver Buckle Services was founded in 2000 with a clear focus: to provide high-quality equine graphic design and website development tailored specifically to the horse industry. In 2001, Kasha Ford joined the company, bringing extensive experience in art, advertising, sales, and marketing strategy—helping shape the business into what it is today.

What began as a creative partnership has grown into a full-service equine marketing agency, serving horse businesses, farms, breeders, trainers, associations, and equestrian professionals across the industry. About Melissa Berschens

Melissa Berschens manages the web services, including creative/design, development and programming, in addition to client relations. Melissa Berschens earned a BS in Environmental Studies from San Jose State University in San Jose, California. Along with her degree, Melissa has a technical background in programming and web development, Flash, Javascript, Photoshop and HTML.  

Prior to starting Silver Buckle Services, Melissa spent 10 years at Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) as a key team-member managing a unique, multi-code language, multi-thousand page website. Melissa's current specialty is website redesigns and website usability which, involves the practice of putting yourself in the user's shoes then designing the best site possible to meet that user’s specific needs. Melissa's wide range of web technology (application development, incorporating 3rd party software, e-commerce, content management systems, video delivery) skills provide an excellent resource to Silver Buckle Services clients. Her retail sales experience early on in her career, has led to a commitment to excellence in customer service. 

Previously a long-time equine competitor in everything from Jumping to Western Pleasure on the Open horse show and APHA Breed Circuit, currently Melissa enjoys trail riding in the Sierra foothills with her friends, Team Penning with her APHA mare "Patty" D'Impressive Surprise.  When time allows, Melissa also shows her beloved APHA/AQHA horse, "Tucker" JHF ST Dancers Gold in Western Pleasure, Western Equitation, Trail and Halter, and is looking forward to another successful show season. 

Melissa stays involved in many horse activities and served as secretary for Seven Counties Paint Horse Club for 5 years. Melissa also volunteered as the leader for Happy Sundowners 4H Horse Project in El Dorado County. Melissa resides on her modest ranch in the wine country of the beautiful Sierra Foothills of California with her daughter and husband, and three crazy dogs.  

About Kasha Ford

Kasha Ford | Creative Director & Equine Marketing Consultant
Kasha Ford leads the creative vision and strategic consulting at Silver Buckle Services, bringing more than two decades of experience in marketing, branding, and equine business development.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from San Jose State University, along with additional studies in Communication and Journalism. Kasha also completed coursework in Animal Science and Agribusiness at California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo, further strengthening her connection between business and the equine industry.

With a background shaped by both creativity and entrepreneurship, Kasha describes herself as “genetically artistic with a strong business instinct.” As the daughter of a professional mixed media artist and a Silicon Valley entrepreneur, she developed a unique ability to blend creative design with strategic thinking—a combination that defines her work today.

Kasha began her marketing career as part of an award-winning team at Trimble Navigation, where she gained experience in corporate marketing and large-scale event coordination. She later led Corporate Marketing and Western Regional Sales for Echo Engineering & Production Supplies Inc., helping drive significant growth through innovative marketing strategies and strong client relationships.

In 2001, Kasha joined Silver Buckle Services to combine her professional expertise with her lifelong passion for horses. Known for her intuitive approach, clients often remark on her ability to translate their vision into powerful, effective design and marketing campaigns that truly reflect their brand.

A lifelong equestrian, Kasha has competed in disciplines ranging from Three-Day Eventing and Western Pleasure to Dressage, Jumping, Trail, Showmanship and Driving. Today, she primarily trail rides, but remains actively involved in the industry, staying connected to trends, events, and the evolving needs of equine businesses. She has also contributed her time and expertise to multiple equestrian organizations, including serving as a board member for the Capitol Area Quarter Horse Association. Kasha continues to collaborate closely with equestrian publications and industry professionals, ensuring her work stays aligned with current trends in equine marketing, advertising, and branding.

Kasha is a workaholic, an all around people person and an animal lover.  Kasha and her family reside near Austin, Texas on a small, 6-acre, hobby ranch, with their horses, pack of  French Bulldogs,  alpacas, parrots and a Sulcata Tortoise. It's never a dull moment.  A professor once told her, "you have a mind-Osterizing way of looking at life and challenges (then unscrambling them.)", Kasha continues with that attitude to this day.
